When oil is hot (do not burn oil) turn off heat. Tear open 66 tea bags. Add 100g peppermint tea leaves and stir. 3Crown peppermint leaves (1.5g per bag) Cover and let it steep overnight. Treats irritable bowel syndrome Massage oil: rub into affected area to relieve swelling in legs caused by venous insuffiency. Pain Killer: rub affected area to relieve muscle and nerve pain. When purchasing ingredients pay attention to the expiry date. Buy ingredients with an expiry date 2 years in the future (especially the oils) Buy oils packaged in dark colored glass bottles ****BEST METHOD TO PRODUCE EDIBLE OILS:**************************** Use mortar and pestle to grind star anis Use grater for nutmeg or buy it already ground 1. Measure 500 mL of Vitus vinifera, grapeseed oil You may try different oils. Grapeseed oil works best To remain liquid at room temperature, coconut oil must be diluted by other less saturated oils Other more expensive oils include: Extra virgin olive, coconut, almond, sesame, avocado, flax seed 2. Weigh 100g of herbs Choose any of the following: Mentha piperita, pepermint tea Capsicum annuum, cayenne powder Myristica fragrans, ground nutmeg Illicium verum, ground star anis Thymus vulgaris, thyme leaves Laurus nobilis, Bay leaf Rosmarinus officinalis, rosemary Syzygium aromaticum, ground clove Piper nigrum, ground black pepper Zingiber officinale, ground ginger Curcuma longa, ground turmeric Ocimum basilicum, basil Capsicum, paprika Allium sativum, garlic Cinnamomum zeylanicum, cinnamon Anethum graveolens, dill Salvia sclarea, clary Sage Origanum Majorana, Marjoram Origanum vulgare, oregano You may experiment with other herbs. Herbs should be dry. 3. Heat oil separately in small tall pot so thermometer can be used with only 500 mL Use low heat. Wait for oil to reach near max. If you smell oil then it is smoking. Don't smoke the oil! Do not burn the oil or cause it to smoke. Use low heat and wait for oil to heat up slowly Use large pot the size of a large stove burner. Put it on a burner set to near lowest setting. 4. Put 100g of herbs into large pot. 5. Pour the 500 mL of hot oil onto herbs in large pot and stir. Notice how the herbs foam 6. Cover large pot tightly and let it sit on very low heat for less than 1 minute. 7. Remove large pot from burner of stove . Let it cook in its own heat covered tightly 8. When cool, pour all contents of large pot into mason jar. Cover and store overnight. 9. Pour off the oil into 4 100 ml bottles. You may need to filter the oil. 10. Slowly heat up 500 mL of grapeseed oil 11. When hot dissolve 56g of beeswax. Use 1 oz (28g) of beeswax for every 250 ml (1 cup) of oil. 12. Scoop the undissolved herb into small food containers 13. combine the undissolved herb from 2+ batch processes. Light weight herb like rosemary may produce enough undissolved herb from a single batch process 14. Put undissolved herb into blender and blend 15. Pour 500 ml of hot grapeseed oil onto the undissolved herb and blend 16. Pour hot mixture into small wide mouth containers. Allow to cool then cover. You should get a solid aromatic balm that does not move around Keep away from sunlight, heat and moisture Try mixing the oils. Experiment! Unless cooking different herbs together has some kind of magical synergy, I prefer to make homogenious oils. I can then mix the homogenious oils together.
