April 18, 2015 by DrPCDr.ca, Test May 2015, I created an image of Linux Mint 13 LXDE because Linux Mint 9 could no longer run Skype. I deploy this image on old computers and on slow performing net books. It is designed for minimum 60 GB hard disks. Footprint will deploy onto 40 GB hard disk. Use a non target desktop PC to do the following: NB Step 14 and steps 19 - 22 are what I do. You can skip these steps. 1. Attach target hard disk to non target desktop PC 2. Boot OS from non target hard disk 3. Browse target hard disk to save customer's data to a folder on non target hard disk On non target hard disk: 4. Download 2 GB Linux image, LM13_LM9.tbi, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4o2OBobO7RcZm5ad2pBc1h4c00/view?usp=sharing 5. Download and burn boot-able CD, IFL, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4o2OBobO7RccFpXQjgtczdqRkk/view?usp=sharing 6. Download and burn 2 boot-able CD's, BootitNG, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4o2OBobO7RcNzA2Vm5IMGxSYVU/view?usp=sharing 7. Set system date to any day in April, 2016. 8. Boot from IFL CD: 9. Use IFL to restore LM13_LM9.tbi to target hard disk. All partitions on target hard disk will be destroyed. 10. Boot from BootitNG CD: Don't install. Click cancel to enter maintenance mode! 11. Use BootitNG to resize data partition of target hard disk to desired capacity. 12. Boot OS from non target hard disk 13. Copy customer's saved data folder to the data partition of target hard disk 14. Copy EDUCATION folder containing 500+ educational videos (35 GB) to data partition of target hard disk, needs total 120 GB or larger 15. Remove target hard disk from non target desktop PC On target PC do the following: 16. Install target hard disk into target PC 17. Boot Linux on target PC 18. Username = user1, Password = user_0 (underscore zero) Linux should install all drivers automatically 19. Boot from BootitNG CD: Don't install. Click cancel to enter maintenance mode! 20. Use BootitNG to create single file image of Linux partition copied to data partition 21. Give one of the BootitNG CD's to customer for free future rescue of Linux OS. 22. Via phone, whenever needed, give verbal instructions to customers needing system rescue Linux Mint 13 can be deployed onto Old Win XP PC's, Old Intel Macs, 2006 - 2007 To play DVD disks LM 13, enter the following command in terminal each time you start PC sudo ln -s /dev/sr0 /dev/dvd To play audio CD in Linux Mint 9, enter the following in terminal each time you play audio CD: vlc cdda:///dev/sr0 --------------------------------------------------------------- Linux Mint for Power PC can be deployed quickly onto Old Power PC Macs 2000 - 2005 See: http://www.mintppc.org/content/installation-instructions-mintppc-11 Connect target Mac PC to Internet via Ethernet cable Boot target Mac from CD ( Hold down options key before chime @ boot) At Prompt Type: auto url=mintppc.org Unfortunately, I cannot image Linux Mint for Power PC.
