March 03, 2007 Vista is on new computers! However, many good free security programs will not run on it. Who's to blame? Vista or the authors of freeware? One notable exception is Avast Antivirus Home edition. It runs on Vista! The help is useful for learning how to navigate in Vista. System shutdown is not intuitive. Vista will be more attractive when good ol freeware programs run on it. Right now Vista SUCKS big time! Even the disk defragmenter is most user unfriendly! IMHO spending money on hardware upgrades to run the latest Windows is NOT frugal. Older Windows run faster on both old and new computers! And you can save money by using the best freeware programs available! chris
