Deploy My Image of 32 bit Windows 7, Vista and XP onto PCs
Deploy 32-bit Windows XP, Vista and 7 December 26, 2009 By Christopher C. Charles AKA DrPC http://drpcdr.ca Deploy My images of Windows onto PCs. No activation or produuct keys required! Restoring images wipes everything off the target partition and is NOT for newbies! XP image can be restored onto a 40 GB HD, minimum 512 MB RAM, 2+ GHz. If the processor speed is less than 2 GHz then RAM should be 1 GB minimum for XP Vista and Win7 need minimum 80 GB HD and minimum 1.5+ GB RAM, 2+ GHz Apparatus: 1. Desktop PC only (If BootitNG cannot see external spare HD on laptop) 2. DVD burner 3. For XP, minimum 40 GB spare preferably IDE HD 4. For Vista/Win7 a spare 80GB HD IDE or SATA 5. 3 blank CD-R disks (1 for bootit boot disk, 1 for winXP and 1 for Vista lite) 6. 1 blank DVD-R disk for Windows 7 Software needed: Torrent client to download torrents, http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/u-torrent/uTorrent.html Help.txt This help file IZArc4.1.exe zips and unzips files. If you already use a zip utility then ignore this file. BurnCDCC.zip creates Windows installation CD and DVD disks from ISO images. If you already have software to do this then burncdcc.zip is not needed. Bootitng.iso creates BootitNG boot CD for restoring/creating images and repairing partitions If you already have XP pro SP2, vista ultimate or Win7 ultimate then the following are not needed: xpprosp2.iso, vista ultimate l.iso and win7_DVD.iso. The Vista and Win7 installation disks are needed to perform initial boot repairs. Soometimes the XP image may need a repair install which resets IE 7 back to IE6. I have included IE7.zip incase you need it. If repair install is needed to boot XP image, key.txt has Windows XP Pro key. win7_DVD.iso creates Windows 7600 Ultimate DVD (has all five 32-bit Win7 versions. Needs activation) Vista Ultimate L.iso creates Vista Ultimate Light CD (no key or activation required) XPProSP2.iso creates XP Pro SP2 CD (key required but activation not needed) DrPCDr.flv is an 8 minute movie explaning the bootit restore procedure and how to manage Avast antivirus. IE7.zip is used after XP repair install to reset IE 6 back to 7. Win7 Crack.zip has been used to activate the Win7 image and is not necessary to download. Deploying Windows XP and Vista involves restoring the windows partition onto free space. Then the data partition is restored onto the remaining free space. The data partition is resized to max capacity of the HD. Deploying Win7 is the same as above except an extra boot partition, win7sys.img (only 100 MB) must be restored first before the OS partition, win736.img. Vista is probably the easiest to deploy. Win 7 is not so easy and must be deployed OFFLINE! The images of Windows were created in 2GB blocks: XP: xp17.img, xp17.001, xp17.002 xpdata.img is the data partition for XP. Vista: Vista37.img, vista37.001, vista37.002 vstadata.img is the data partition for Vista. Win7: Win736.img, win736.001, win736.002, win736.003, win736.004 Win7data.img is the data partition for Win7. METHOD: All ***Steps are essential. ***Step 13 does not apply to XP. ***Step 1: Download bootitng.iso and the image files (.img) for the windows of your choice. Step 16: If Vista or Win7 images fail to boot then try the following: Recently, my 8-user Windows 7 ultimate image has refused to boot on HP laptops which lack the SATA settings option in the bios. Vic’s post was extremely useful! On an HP dV9700 laptop, using a spare laptop SATA HD, I installed Windows from the Windows 7 DVD. Using regedit I explored the start DWORD values for aliide, amdide, atapi, cmdide, iastorv, intelide, msahci, pciide, viaide in HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/ Using my desktop PC I restored my 8-user image of windows 7 onto the customer's 250 GB SATA laptop HD. Using the Windows 7 DVD I completed the boot repair and booted windows on my desktop PC. I explored the start DWORD values for aliide, amdide, atapi, cmdide, iastorv, intelide, msahci, pciide, viaide in HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/ I noticed that on my image of Windows 7 the msahci start DWORD value was set to 3. On the Windows installed from the Windows DVD, the msahci start DWORD value was set to 0. Also, the pciide on my image was set to 0 but on the windows installed from DVD the value was set to 3. On my desktop PC I changed the start DWORD values for msahci from 3 to 0 and, pciide from 0 to 3. I put the customer's laptop HD back into the laptop and BINGO! It booted! Hallelujah! Thanks to the genius of Vic! Source: http://web2.minasi.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=31980 ***Step 17. Thanks to Pirate Bay, ISOhunt, btjunkie, snapfiles, cnet, filehippo, oldversion.com, mydigitalife, blackviper, BootitNG, Avast, Driverguide, Youtube, Google, CUSTOMERS! NB my disciples: Beware of Acer Computers. Acer HDs change the first partition on the HD. Therfore you need to do Step 9 after Step 7. This puts a dummy 1 GB data partition onto the beginning of the HD. After you restore the dummy partion then continue with steps 8 - 9. Remember this will shift everything down by 1. So MBR Entry 1 becomes MBR Entry 2 and New Volume-2 becomes New Volume-3. Also beware, if the PC has micro drives then remove the wire from the motherboard first, because the drive letter D: will be assigned to one of the micro drives. Drive letter D: must be assigned to the data partition. Upon first boot the drive letters should be assigned properly. Upon first boot, HD must boot alone without any other hard drives or flash drives attached. Then shutdown PC and reconnect micro drives. If drive letter D: is not assigned to New Volume partition then: click start >Right click computer >manage >disk management > Right click on DVD or micro drive that has been assigned letter D: > Change drive letter and paths >change > Click drop down arrow and choose available drive letter > Yes to warning about programs may not run correctly >Change New Volume to D: Good Luck my disciples!
